For Jillsy's One Word Wednesday… the word is "sweet", and of course, being Daniel's 22nd birthday, all I could think of is what a sweet soul, a sweet spirit he has and he is.

I've already written one whole post about him in honor of his birthday (click HERE to read it and more about Daniel)…I worried about using him for this one – if a 22 year-old man had his druthers, I bet he'd pick any word in the dictionary besides Sweet to describe himself.

But that's what makes Daniel so sweet – I'm sure he's no exception and he cringes even now that I'm using him in this post, but he is such a sweet, sweet son that he'll tolerate it for me.

How sweet is he? He rescued a baby squirrel and was determined to take care of it even after we discovered it was paralyzed… he's the one we would call if we found a scorpion or some other creature in the house, because he would capture it and release it outside… when our dog Chewy was injured in a fight with his brother Charly years ago, and we knew we had to have him put to sleep, Daniel sat for hours by his side, just sat there reading a book, to keep Chewy company, to let him know he was loved… those are just a few examples.

He can be quirky, over-analytical, impatient and annoying as hell… he's human, after all… but over and through it all, when everything is tallied at the end of the day, sweetness scores the highest. That's my Daniel.

So true – there's nothing like watching them pass the love you've given them onto something else.

Empathy and Compassion – both hallmarks of Emotional Intelligence. Seems like your boy Daniel has an abundance of both. How fortunate you each are, in the company of the other.
I loved this tribute ~ and am grateful to have ‘found’ you out here in cyberspace. I look forward to getting to know you better!
