It's hard to believe, but today is the second anniversary of my blog!

I'm hanging out in a college computer lab, passing the time until the Girl gets out of her hours-long summer Physics class. I'm her chauffeur since we're down to just two working vehicles; the other 7 or so are just for decoration. (Just teasing, Tom!)

I wasn't sure I could use these computers, so I didn't come prepared to work on my book. But I will next week! Even though I haven't taken classes in over a year, my old ID still works, so here I sit getting caught up on e-mails, Facebook, my Flickr group and blogs (mine and the ones I follow but haven't had time to read lately.) Hmmm… I have a feeling I'm not going to mind this chauffeur gig one little bit!

Out of curiosity, I took a trip back through my archives to find my Very First Blog Post Ever, appropriately named "Finding my voice…" and (surprise!) I saw that I wrote it on June 3, 2008. Perfect timing!

It's weird, though… I barely remember writing that one. The ones I traveled through to get to it, also written that June of 2008, are still pretty fresh in my memory, but that first one… all I can remember is being so nervous about putting my words out there in Cyber-land that I'm sure my fingers were shaking as I typed. I knew hardly anyone would be reading it, but still, inside it felt like a game of True Confessions, like I was baring my soul, exposing myself as someone other than what people expected me to be (and not in a good way.)

I wasn't sure how the whole Blog thing worked or even what I wanted to say. So I just said what was on my mind. And that's how it started…

(On a sad note, I noticed that tomorrow will mark the second anniversary of Frankie's friend Ruthie's death. I just hope I never have to write a post like that one about Frankie.)

Thank you, Brenda! Yours was the first ever comment on my first ever blog post and knowing you were out there reading helped me not worry if anyone else read it or not!
