My heart is soaring today, straight up into the cloudless summer blue sky. I'm not sure why and I'm not going to question it… when I least expect it the clouds will roll in and cast their shadows, but for now I'm enjoying it.

It could be due to the sunshine… we had a few days of rain this week, very welcomed rain, but my soul can only stand so many gray days without taking on the same tint.

I suspect it's also because we have a weekend at home. Too many weekends at home can get dreary, but so can too many weekends away. I don't have any false hopes of getting much accomplished – it's a weekend of graduation parties and a much-anticipated wedding of two dear friends, plus my oldest is on his way to the house even as I type. I haven't seen him in several weeks and I hope to spend some time catching up on his latest adventure – a trip to Chicago.

But just being home for more than a few hours of a weekend feels comforting… healing… a welcome reprieve from the hectic-ness of the world… like chilling on the porch swing late in the afternoon.

We're moving slow today… this morning Tom and I took the puppies for a walk…Frankie ventures down to the house and even came in for an inspection the other day, but still turns us down on walks. Butterflies are everywhere – all shapes, sizes and colors, and I noticed the summer pinks are popping up, thanks to the rain.

The day is already getting away from me. I only have a few hours left before the celebrations begin, so I guess I'll go tackle a to-do list. But first, I'm grabbing my camera and heading outside; Tom just spotted a dirt dauber building a nest…

You make me want to live in the country! Love the picture of the swing.

This photo fits this post so well! But, Frankie’s not taking walks with you anymore? 😦
