"The butterfly counts not months, but moments, and has time enough."

The Hollow is filled with butterflies these days… word got out about all of the beautiful wildflowers, I suppose. Many of them are too quick for me and my camera, but this beauty stayed put long enough for me to snap several shots.

It and the others remind me of the beauty of life, of the miracles all around us. The past few weeks have been emotionally overstuffed for me, but when I watch the butterflies dance from flower to flower I feel the stress slip away.

I'm more aware of this moment, and grateful for it, just as it is by itself… not as part of a path I've tread to get here or part of the one that leads away, but just right here, right now.

I hope you enjoy the photographs and find inspiration from these quotes I gathered… it seems butterflies are overflowing with inspiration! Tiny gifts, tiny reminders from God.

We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty.

May the wings of the butterfly kiss the sun

And find your shoulder to light on,

To bring you luck, happiness and riches

Today, tomorrow and beyond.

Happiness is a butterfly, which when pursued, is always just beyond your grasp, but which, if you will sit down quietly, may alight upon you.

It is necessary to write, if the days are not to slip emptily by. How else, indeed, to clap the net over the butterfly of the moment? For the moment passes, it is forgotten; the mood is gone; life itself is gone. That is where the writer scores over his fellows: he catches the changes of his mind on the hop.

~ Vita Sackville-West

Of course you already know how much I love these photos. They are just awesome! Have you ever heard about butterflies and the connection they have with a love one who has just recently passed? I never knew until my Dad passed away when the oddest thing happened (before I was told about the connection). When I was told, I got goosebumps. When Tony’s mom passed away, two very unusual sightings happened with butterflies as well.
A sighting of a butterfly (especially in an unusual place or circumstance) soon after the passing of a loved one supposedly means the loved one has come back to us to tell us they are okay. You can google it and you will find many stories. I am certainly not one to believe in such things, but when those unusual butterfly sightings happened before my own eyes, it made me a believer! I would tell you about them, but it would take too long to write about them right now.

Yes, I have heard about that. You reminded me that soon after my sister-in-law passed a few years ago, I spotted a beautiful yellow butterfly – it was persistent about hanging around, and yellow was her favorite color, so of course, I felt it was a message from her. Thanks for pulling that memory up for me! I'd love to hear your stories sometime.
