Ever since we traveled down to Huatabampo, Mexico for his little brother's wedding in 1998, Tom has been raving about the Mexican Hot Dogs sold by street vendors there. He described them to me, but I wasn't impressed or tempted to try one myself – avocado, tomato and lettuce on a hot dog? Oh, heck no. Give me some mustard, chili and cheese, or perhaps just some relish. Now that's a hot dog!

But dang it… this weekend he dressed up his Fourth of July hot dog with avocado slices and pico de gallo. It looked so good, I couldn't resist. I tasted it… and had to admit he was right. I hate that! But I'm a definite convert. Avocado and tomatoes taste absolutely divine on hot dogs!

And they even look good, too, don't they?

Hey…avocado and tomato are good on almost anything! Kudos to Tom for his sense of culinary adventure, something I believe is fairly rare in the male gender. And yes, they look pretty and festive!

Ah, go ahead. As far as hot dogs go, it's pretty healthy!

I told him! And I agree with you! He's a much more creative cook than I am!
