…and they're still in love.

It hasn't always been easy. I'm sure there were times they couldn't stand each other, because how could you live with someone for that long and not feel like you want to claw their face (symbolically speaking only, of course. Ahem.)

But they loved each other through those times, clinging to that lifeline that strengthens or weakens with each crisis a marriage encounters. It astounds me when I stop and think of all they've gone through together – the joys, yes, but so much sadness, stress, heartbreak. Just a fraction of what they've survived would snap ordinary marriages in two.

But this is no ordinary marriage.

Happy 61st anniversary, Mama and Daddy.

I know! It IS hard to imagine, isn't it? Yes, I love her hat and Daddy's pompadour-hairstyle! Both of them just babies (from where I stand now) and too cute!

It really is amazing – they wobbled a bit but they're human, after all, and it makes my heart sing to see them together now. I know I'm very lucky!
