Tom and I did it. We finally dressed up for Halloween after so many party-pooper years.

Now, mind you, we didn't spend a lot of forethought on these costumes…

But today I was grateful that I'm a procrastinating hoarder; I was afraid I had thrown away the shoe box full of Halloween makeup, a collection gathered over two decades, now that our nest is empty. But I scrounged around and found it in my storage room, on top of the glue sticks and beside the crayons. (Cleaning out that storage room is on one of my to-do lists lying around here. I'm glad I haven't gotten to it, either!)

So with a copy of The Good, the Bad and the Ugly on the counter beside me as a model, I grew myself a black beard, mustache and matching heavy eyebrows with black creme colour, donned a western shirt my grandmother made me in the '80's (still hanging in my closet), pulled on my skinny jeans, some Rocket Dog boots, the serape/pancho from yesterday's post, one of Tom's hats, added a good squint, and Whoa! I was the spitting image of Clint Eastwood. Sort of. With blonde hair.

But it's pretty dang close, don't you think? (I'm clean out of cigars, so I chewed on a pencil. 'Cause I'm a writer. Get it?)

Tom just had to dive into his closet and scrounge a bit in one of the kids' rooms for a whip (the kids may be mostly gone, but not all of their stuff) and Holy Ancient History! he turned into Indiana Jones!

So, dressed (warmly) as two of Hollywood's most famous leading men, we ventured out into the dark to a Halloween Party in the woods, where we took a "haunted" hike up the hill, visited with other characters, ate lots of chocolate and then slipped away part way through Paranormal Activity because, it turns out, Clint Eastwood doesn't like scary movies. Who knew?

Happy Halloween from Indy and Clint, everyone!

    How fun!
Your last blog almost inspired to do a post on costumes of the past but I just didn’t have to time to find the pictures. It was fun remembering, though!
    Happy Halloween!
