Autumn hasn't finished moving in…one glance down the Hollow and you'll see plenty of green mixed with the golds and oranges, and I'm not talking about the leaves on evergreen junipers or live oaks.

However, this morning Winter reminded Autumn its days are numbered in the form of a light frost…sort of a white sticky note. I'd say it's a hint of more to come, but here in the Hollow, we rarely get more than a light frost in the dead of winter anyway!

In honor of the first freeze, for my walk I pulled on the white knit cap I've had since I was three (I've never found a better one) and my mismatched stretchy gloves (navy and black, close enough!) I love the briskness on my face, as long as my ears and hands are warm.

The frost was visible in the air…my white-wispy breath drifted up, joining the glaze on the surrounding hills.

I've been in a photo slump lately – not much has changed around here, and I've already got quite a collection of wrestling dogs, autumn leaves, picturesque weeds, fence posts, and the last blooming wildflowers.

But today I climbed out of my slump; photo ops just clamored for my attention…

…sunlight glistening on the frost…

I hope you had plenty of fun surprises today, too.

    Barbara,
Gosh, I think I am in that slump you wrote about. Nothing much has changed here so I haven’t taken many photos in the last 2 weeks. Even my sunset shots this week were sort of boring so I haven’t posted any. And tonight’s moon…well, I thought about going outside, but here I sit instead. Maybe a frosty morning will awaken my creative stirrings…might be awhile before I see any of those glitters over here. I think warm weather is on its way back into the Houston area.

Would you believe I almost didn't go take any of the moon? The slump had a good hold, but I thought it would be good to have one every month, and that got me up there. Must be Autumn Fever instead of Spring Fever or something! And it's supposed to be 77 here tomorrow – just a little nudge from Winter, that's all.

My surprise for today is that winter did move in but fall is not yet over and the combination of the two make for great photo opportunities.

Thank you! I was in such a slump I almost didn't even notice the slump or bother to snap the moon. But I'm so glad I did. I think just the action pulled me from my slump!

Cool photos! But what’s going on…everyone is in a slump?

Lovely frosty shots. I took a shot of the moon tonight, too. And I sure do get what you mean by a photo slump. I’m glad you’re out of yours.

Thanks, Hilary. When I snap my moon shots, one of the things that comes to mind is how it connects all of us…I imagine all of the other people who are also taking photos or just gazing at it at the same exact moment (who can resist gazing at a full moon?) It's nice to know you were one of them!

I know! It seems like everyone is going through one. I wonder if it's just this transitional season or maybe exhaustion from all of the fabulous autumn photos! lol

I’m still working on getting a clear moon shot. Yours always inspire me! I love the “jewels” covering the car!! I certainly hope my slump ends soon. Going on vacation helped the photography side, but the writing side is still waning. 😦

Thank you for the complements – but I can't believe any of your talents are waning!
