Surreal.
Sitting where just weeks ago I danced, now praying, chanting, "Hail Mary, full of grace…", my voice joining with almost 300 others, Catholic and non-Catholic, drawn together by shared admiration and affection, our breath turning frosty in the cold of the hangar, our eyes full of tears, surrounded by airplanes, pieces of airplanes, miniature airplanes, airplane art…
Carl loved airplanes.
He's there with us. Faces, memories, photographs, videos. I can feel him smiling.
Today there will be more – more prayer, reflection, recognition, sharing, hugging, crying, laughing, remembering. Please keep Carl's family in your prayers.
