Prayer weaves its way throughout my being, throughout my day … a strong fiber holding the pieces together, supporting me, lifting me … a light breaking the darkness, revealing blessings, allowing hope.

Today, and for the next several days, weeks, months, I'm asking for your prayer to join mine…

  • About the time most of us are eating lunch today, my sister Brenda will be in surgery for a fractured hip. She's not sure how long it's been fractured – she's been in pain for awhile, trying not to go to the doctor until her Medicare kicked in (why is there a gap between approval and coverage?) Yesterday the pain finally became too great to put off any longer.
    • Please pray for the surgeon, for quick healing, for patience (she's facing two months of immobilization!), for my parents (she'll be staying with them) and for Medicare to declare this an emergency, bump up the start date, and cover the cost of surgery. Apparently they do that sometimes. I hope this is one of those times.
  • Someone near to my heart is struggling, trying to find answers and relief to bouts of depression. Please lift them up … pray that they are able to fight and escape the dark fog that envelopes their heart and mind right now. Help them focus on the bright areas and feel the love surrounding them.
  • Another person near to my heart is dying. Although I haven't seen him in years, in another, younger life of mine, his family became my second one – I consider him my little brother. Please keep him in your prayers as he faces this next journey. Also please pray for strength and peace for his older brother – he'll be losing the last surviving member of his immediate family.
    • Just received word that he passed this morning. Please pray for the repose of his soul, and for his brother and friends.

Thank you.

Unceasing prayer means to have the mind always turned to God with great love,

holding alive our hope in God,

having confidence in God whatever we're doing and whatever happens to us.

~ St. Maximus the Confessor

just by showing up,

Oh, your heart must be so very heavy, but hopefully having the support of all your loving friends and family will help to keep you uplifted. Sending prayers to all your loved ones and to you as well.

Barb, You are a good friend to those who know you and I would be glad to keep these in my thoughts and prayers. Stay strong and, as I am already sure you do, remember Who is watching over them.

Praying as I drink my coffee, getting ready for my work day to start. Sending a speedy recovery and as painfree as possible. Also including prayers for all the other people in your life. Whispering a couple of extra prayers especially for the person with depression, for them to realize there is happiness and brightness on it way.Amen!

    Barbara, I will pray!
I can’t imagine being immobile for 2 months WITH MY PARENTS. Not that your parents are bad…strictly speaking of my own.
Depression is a horrible thing; I’ve dealt with it myself and so has my oldest son.
So sorry about your friend’s passing.
I love that quote by St. Maximus. I had not seen it before, but it really describes my “style” of prayer.

Gail, as much as I love my parents, I know exactly what you mean 🙂 I love that quote, too – my style, as well. Thank you for your sweet wishes and prayer!

Thank you for all your comments, Juana! And especially thank you for your prayers. My sister's home from the hospital and I'm helping take care of her for a few days. It's a long road so please keep her and my parents in your prayers!
