“What day is it,?" asked Pooh.
"It's today," squeaked Piglet.
"My favorite day," said Pooh.”

The calendar says it's Tuesday, but it's Monday for me.

I'm already a day behind.

I arrived home late last night after a long, unplugged weekend, overflowing with friendship, laughter, tears, food, fellowship, sorrow, family, wine… (okay, and maybe a little tequila, too)…

There was my Diva gathering, a joyful experience.

Then Sunday morning a quick trip to Deer Park for the memorial service for another friend's husband who passed suddenly last week, a bittersweet time of memories, tears, hugs and laughter.

Afterwards, dinner on Clear Lake with another friend and her husband… sweet fellowship, delicious food and a glorious sunset.

The evening and the next day, hanging out with my parents (and a quick jaunt to see my sister)…a relaxing, heart-enriching time, just soaking up the sight of them.

But now, back home, back to "Normal", I'm drowning in laundry, unread emails, unread blogs, and unwritten words.

So I'm going to take Pooh's attitude and be happy for today, just as it is.

It's my favorite day!

Happy Monday, er, Tuesday!

(Thanks to Pete and Katie and others who reposted this on Facebook so I could see it!)

Pooh is so wise! So sorry about the sudden loss of your friend’s husband. So tragic when it happens that way. Hope your week settles down.

I included Pooh in my “15 Books” list, which was a selection of those writings that either profoundly affected me or were overdue from the library, I forget which. In any case, some of my favorite “lost in literature” moments came via A. A. Milne and his wonderful characters.

I can't imagine Pooh and friends not being in anyone's favorite books. He should also be listed among the world's best philosophers, don't you think?

Thanks, Gail. The irony of it is he'd battled cancer and suffered from the damages of radiation for years. This came as a huge surprise!

Absolutely. Have you ever read “The Tao Of Pooh”? Or “The Te Of Piglet”? Both real books, delving into how “zen” Pooh and Piglet are. Fun reads, and right on the money.
