Cypress trees towering overhead. Harsh summer sunlight softened, transformed into a magical golden glow that bounces off the glassy surface of a creek and dances on the surrounding tree trunks.

Hours to float in cold, clear water under that lofty green bower, to talk and talk and talk with friends in a busy outdoor market… in a huge kitchen… on a stone terrace under the gaze of a herd of deer… and piled on a bed, flashing back to 6th grade slumber parties.

Is it wrong to be grateful I wasn't scheduled to work this weekend so that I didn't miss out on all of the above?

I hope you had a relaxing, magical weekend, too!

Here are a few other sweet! moments from my past week…

Monday: dinner with your husband and 1/3 of your kids; helping your baby girl find just the right swim suit; friends' prayers

Tuesday: morning chats with a mama duck and her duckling while your old puppy swims his laps; enough money in the bank to pay the bills; sitting on a porch swing, listening to the wind rustle the leaves; the full moon

Wednesday: living in a free country; a puppy lying across your feet, belly up for a rub; getting paid to listen to live music; listening to the rumblings of fireworks on the 4th of July

Thursday: logging two hours on your book; the blouse your puppy decides to destroy is one you don't like much anyway; a nibble on one of your Craig's List 'for sale' postings

Friday: standing under majestic cypress trees on the banks of a crystal clear creek; unique sculpture in the middle of nowhere; fawns; slumber parties, gabbing with girlfriends in your jammies, when you're 53

Saturday: Wimberley Market Days with crazy friends; finding a "new" Ziggy to give to your husband; floating in cold water on a hot summer day; live music and dancing

Sunday: waking to the aroma of bacon; a deer family photography shoot; coming home after a weekend away; the smell of rain

My goodness! You’ve had quite a week. So many sweets to be thankful for. I’m sure God is pleased that you notice so many good things that most would take for granted. 🙂 Hope the upswing continues for you.
Oh! The first pic of the reflection is awesome!!!

This is a truly “feel good” post!
That little deer has my heart.
I had a great week. For me, being able to just “be,” and to notice some of the same things you are noticing makes everything good.
I wish you a beautiful beginning to your week!
    xo.

Love this week’s sweets! And I see your “littles” are as much fun as mine. Doesn’t it make you feel good just to know you can be grateful for small things?

what are those strange ear looking things everyone is standing next to in the second picture?
This past weekend was the end to a road trip and I had an interesting enjoyable ending (see my post).
Floating on a cool river is very enjoyable and something I have not done for too long of a time.

Those are very unusual sculptures on the property where we were staying. I took quite a few shots of them I'll post on my photography site soon. I'll hop over and check out your road trip. Hope you get to float in a cold river soon!

An upswing in fun… but a downswing in income since I wasn't scheduled to work. Obviously, I'm not complaining, though. 🙂

I agree with Gail and Lady Fi about the first photo.…gorgeous! Looking at the attendees, it appears to be a prelude to Port A :-).

    Barbara,
what a sweet post and so well expressed. I loved the reflections in the water of the trees and the deer.
This is a beautiful reminder for us all to look at the blessings that we all have in our lives, no matter how small.
    Thanks my sweet friend,

You husband collects Ziggy’s? My hubby’s nickname is Ziggy!
I agree that the photo of the creek is superb. Reminds me of the peaceful river where Tammy Tyree (remember the old Tammy movies?) lived on a houseboat
Precious fawn. We have two new ones this year, and I’ve seen them only once.
And…those sculptures. The first thing I thought of was some sort of alien worm-like creature rising from a centuries-old slumber under the earth, yawning as they awakened!

How funny! We consider Ziggy a kind of mascot to our love – being Ziggy fans was one of the things we had in common. Yes, I remember the Tammy movies and you're right! I didn't realize it until now. Those sculptures kind of freaked me out when I first saw them, too!! So strange! (Glad to hear from you EMP!!)

Those “strange ear looking things everyone is standing next to in the second picture” look like look like strange mouth looking things to me. I wouldn’t go back there if I were you.
