This past Thursday – the morning of the Great Ice Storm – I slept in, made myself a delicious veggie omelette, then took the girls (Belle and my grandpuppy Josie) for a long walk through the hollow.

It was cold, but the cloudless sky was a brilliant blue and the sunshine was a welcome sight after days of drizzly gray.

The girls were excited about getting out of the house.

The city pretty much shut down in anticipation of what could have been a very dangerous situation due to a cold front and warm front crossing paths above us.

However, we lucked out because of timing. The rain fell before the temperatures had a chance to drop low enough to be a problem … or something like that. I can't remember the weatherman's exact explanation for the no-show-ice-storm.

All I found to photograph was a little frost and some tiny frozen droplets.

I really didn't care.

My last GRI Marketing class was postponed until Friday, so Thursday was a much-needed deep breath in an exhausting week, and I took full advantage of a day at home.

Josie and Belle were happy about it, too.

But since I teased you about an ice storm, I'll share my photos from earlier in the week…

That's about all the winter I want, thank you very much.

I think this little yellow flower agrees.

Instead of compiling my sweet! moments in one post, I'm going to try to share some of them separately. This was definitely a sweet! spot in my week!

What was one of yours?

I’m glad we didn’t have anything dreadful, just the drizzly, gray, cold, gloominess was enough. Love the photos!

Looks like your area missed a disruptive storm. I wonder if the weather reporters make the predictions too scary. However, there have been many deaths related to storms and I wonder about people’s common sense. Being prepared does pay off often.

I think there's just a lot of variables, and they play it safe by predicting a worse-case scenario. That's what I would do, too! We've had really bad ice storms here before, with lots of injuries, so I'm not complaining! I stay home at the slightest hint of ice.

I think that was one of the few sunshine-filled days we've had in a couple of weeks! Today was just rain, rain, rain. I'm not complaining, because we need it! But oh, that sunshine was spectacular!

I guess my biggest sweet of the week was the shared birthday dinner with my uncle (almost exactly 20 years apart from him) and other relatives. He was born on February 28th and I was born on March 2nd, so some close relatives usually give us a combined party, which I always enjoy, of course.

Looks like you made the most of your time. Walking with the dogs is good for the soul. How comfy they look snuggled up in their blankies. It’s so good to see you enjoying life right now. God is good.

I love the way ice looks
but hate the feeling of stuck and slippery
and heaviness weighing down living things
    till they break.
    But it’s pretty, isn’t it.
Glad you got some sparkles out of it
and love your heart to celebrate:)

We did have an ice storm several years ago that broke branches, but thank goodness it's usually just a light coating that melts within a few hours. You have to be fast to catch it!
